A North Carolina Chantrelle waxy cap ((Hygrophorus cantharellus)This wild mushroom is a reddish orange as it emerges from the ground. It is considered edible, however since I am not an absolute authority on mushrooms I would not attempt to eat it. Mushrooms come in many sizes and colors some are edible and many are not. They are however interesting to view while enjoying nature in the outdoors.
