I am a native San Franciscan who lived in New York and London for a total of 30 years before returning to SF. Always interested in art, I held off considering myself a serious artist until I returned to San Francisco when I re-designed my career and my life. I am mainly self-taught, though have taken various classes in painting and photography over the years.

My photo art 'tagline' is Unexpected views of the ordinary - Ordinary views of the unexpected' means that I love finding new ways to see what's around me and presenting them by means of digital filters to digitally or manipulation to become what I wanted. I am drawn to shapes, juxtapositions and visual irony, mostly in urban settings. During the pandemic, I moved on to mixed media and painting where my work is mostly abstract.

In my pre-'hands-on' days I had work accepted regularly into juried shows and won awards both in gallery and in online photography contests. I have had many successful solo shows in the past dozen years and participated in many group shows. Since I started collage and painting, I've also been in juried and invitational shows and have sold quite a few of my originals from shows and my website. I have collectors around the United States. Prints of many of my one-of-a-kind artworks are on this site which means they are available in different sizes and substrates to your liking.

To round out 'who I am', I am also an avid jazz lover, I have put my camera to the music scene, publishing two photo books called San Francisco Bay Area Jazz and Bluesicians (Vol. 1 & 2) which together include 251 portraits of local musicians taken during performances, each accompanied by a bio. More on this book can be found at bayareajazzandbluesicians.com.
