Railroad tracks are commonly seen in the US and around the world. What makes this image special is the perspective of the image. It is a fall image at sunset and to me, although the symbolism will change based on the viewer has a very strong meaning.
The foreground is like this very moment and the past it has happened and can not be changed. The next few steps or near background is clear and in focus symbolizing the next step, a few seconds into the future which can be changed. The background is out of focus as well symbolizing the future. Although the tracks lay out a path that path is somewhat fuzzy at the moment.
