Sika deer, also known as the "spotted deer" or "Japanese deer," are native to East Asia. They are found in countries such as Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan. They have also been introduced to various parts of the world, including North America and Europe.

Sika deer are medium-sized deer, with males (stags) typically weighing between 90 and 180 pounds (40 to 82 kilograms), and females (hinds) weighing between 70 and 120 pounds (32 to 54 kilograms). They stand around 2.5 to 3 feet (0.8 to 1 meter) tall at the shoulder.

The coat of sika deer changes depending on the season. In the summer, their coat is reddish-brown with white spots, while in the winter, it becomes darker and grayer.
