Rumble Strips has sort of a tribal look to it, with its thick lines and strong geometric shapes, but I assure you it has big city roots – it started out as a photo of the corduroy tactile pavement on the sidewalk in front of a hospital I was visiting. The design was intended to be functional, aiding the visually impaired, rather than decorative, but it was eye-catching. And it reminded me of the rumble strips on the side of the road, hence the name of this picture.
