Medeina or Medeinė (derived from medis (tree) and medė (forest)) is a ruler of forests, trees and animals. Her sacred animal is a hare. Medeina is single, unwilling to get married, though voluptuous and beautiful huntress. She is depicted as a young woman and a she-wolf with an escort of wolves. Medeina can be described as a goddess with both divine and dark traits. Her duty is not to help the hunters, but to protect the forest.
I depicted Medeina as a she-wolf only. The human qualities or visa versa of woman as wolf ruled the day. She is known to work with Ravens for hunting. She metamorphosed into something a bit like any wolf-like creature. Foxy and dog-like. She defies logic as she is part of the forest and the forest is her. The tail in front belongs to Medeina and to the trees, land and river behind her as well as the mountains in the distance. The sun (or is it the moon?) rules the mood of The Wolf/Forest/Animal Goddess. She can be sweet or a terrifying nightmare. In a way, the circle of yellow behind her along with the trees around the image of Medeina are what powers her. She is a true goddess and deserves those metaphorical halos and gorgeous 'tree-cloaks'. She never misuses her powers and if you respect her, she will respect you.
