Description
Cut olive wood, Lefkada, Ionian Islands, Greece, September 2020. Black and white version of colour original, inverted. In 1684, after the Venetians conquered the island, they ordered that olive cultivation should increase. Inland from Lefkada Town, there are still many olive groves, with very old trees, though the town has of course expanded into them over the years, and further out various houses and holiday accommodation have been built among them. This picture is part of a pile of wood from trees recently cut down on the outskirts of the town.
