Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Hershey and McClintock. US geneticists Alfred Day Hershey (1908-1997) and Barbara McClintock (1902-1992). Hershey's 1952 bacteriophage research, with Martha Chase, proved that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) carries genetic information. For this work, Hershey was awarded a share of the 1969 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. McClintock worked in the 1940s and 1950s on the genetics of maize. She discovered the moving of genes in chromosomes (transposable elements), by observing patterns of kernel coloration. She received the 1983 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for this work.
