Mingus mill is an antique grist mill that was built in 1886. This specific image was taken quite a way down the mill race (which some call a sluice) and into the cast iron turbine.
The mill is fully functional and they do have grinding demonstrations there at specified times. The mill is approximately 1/2 mile from the Oconaluftee visitors center in The Great Smoky Mountains.
