Golden Rat Tail Cactus or Cleistocactus winteri is a very thick plant that grows it arid conditions. The plant is also known as the Tarantula Cactus. this one had several buds and one flower.
This cactus is very interesting because it flowers in very unusual places. If you look at the pad of needles you will probably wonder as I did how this plant could actually flower through all that. The cactus flowers have a very unique and unusual shape as well. Very different looking, one could say almost alien looking.
