Description
This is an image of Macedonia missionary baptist church in South Point Ohio. This church was part of the underground railroad. Ohio was one of the first stops for many of the individuals in the deep south to escape being enslaved, their first stop out of the Virginia territory on the road to freedom from being enslaved in the 1800's. In most places and as a general rule if you crossed the ohio river you were in the North and slavery was prohibited. They were Free States at least until you hit the Mississippi river.
Unfortunately today Human trafficking in the United States is more widespread and more kept under the carpet and silenced than the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade ever was. Owning or believing that you own another Human being is wrong. Human Trafficking around the world, for those who do not know, is either being enslaved for sexual purposes or enslaved for labor.
This church represents freedom from slavery, the doors have been closed and it has become a US historical landmark but in light of the Human trafficking problem in the US and around the world, it appears that these doors should once again be reopened for those enslaved to escape their traffickers and the rest of the churches to follow in suit to aid the enslaved and put Human Trafficking to an end once and for all.
The proceeds from the sale of this image support the efforts of: The Salvation Army of Wake Co. NC - Project FIGHT (Freeing Individuals Gripped by Human Trafficking). I applaud their efforts in the fight against Human Trafficking.

A lovely capture of this wonderful old church with such a rich history and surrounded by the beauty of autumn. l/fv

Chris, this is another lovely capture of Autumnal beauty! Love this old-fashioned church surrounded with such bright foliage! I wish there was a way for artists to directly set up for the proceeds to directly go to the charity of their choice! I applaude your efforts to help such a worthy cause as the The Salvation Army of Wake Co., N.C.--Project FIGHT (Freeing Individuals Gripped by Human Trafficking)! That is why I support Compassion International that helps children become free from the cycle of poverty in the Name of Christ (i.e. helping to prevent child labor, human trafficking, forced or arranged early marriages, etc.)! May God bless them for their efforts! L/F/FB!

The beauty of this image caught my eye.... and then I read the heart-touching description. Thank you, Chris, for raising awareness about human trafficking, and how this historic church played an important role in the freedom of people escaping another era of slavery in years gone by. God bless you abundantly for your artistic vision and efforts in this worthy cause! L/F
