Description
This is a mixed media image of a 1955 Chevy Bel-Air in harvest gold and india ivory. In the Genera of Cars of the 1950s, the 1955-1957 chevy Bel Air is an iconic vehicle. For collectors of classic cars the 1955-57 Chevy Bel Air is the cornerstone of their collection.
This specific image is a digital oil painting of a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. This oil painting contains the classic harvest gold and india Ivory color scheme, It is a hardtop. These cars are not necessarily loved for their stock engine power but rather their body styling. This antique car epitomizes the high style that was prevalent on the cars of this era.
The goal in creating this classic car mixed media digital oil painting was to capture the spirit of this classic car as true to the original image as possible while allowing space and variation for the viewer of the image to be able to place themselves back to the time when they first saw this vehicle.
The entire production run of the 1955 Chevy Bel Air was 748,955 units including all Bel Air body styles and engine types (v6-v8, nomad wagons, 2 door and 4 door). It was a very popular car at the time and remains popular today nearly 60 years later (at the time of writing this article). In 2014 a 1955 Chevy Bel Air will set you back anywhere between $29,900 and $114,000 at most car dealers and auctions depending on, of course: new or restored condition, if any modifications were done to the vehicle (retro mod), paint scheme, and literally 100s of other considerations. Curb appeal is probably the highest driving force for price after those cars that are true survivors (those that are literally all original and unrestored). Surivior cars demand a very high premium in near showroom condition.
For those of us who love this beautiful car and want a representation for their home, office, or den of this great piece of American automotive history this digital oil painting this work was created just for you.

This is so nostalgic looking, Chris! What a great capture! Although I would call this color as being closer to a Canary Yellow! We had far too many 1970's things in Harvest Gold and Avocado Green--don't make me go back there (the shag carpet and appliances--ugh)! I love this color; however, it would actually even make a canary sing! Love it! Fave!
