Description
This is an image of an 1880 Ames Ironworks threshing machine engine. This particular steam engine ran off of straw. The pulleys ran the thresher which separated the wheat from the chaff. burning the wheat chaff or straw was smart, plentiful during threshing, and demonstrates the forward-thinking of farmers and farm equipment manufacturers in the late 1800s. It is a relic and based on condition its surprising to have survived this long.
